Our Company:

Global Profilers is a Recruitment & HR Services firm specialized in recruitment in Africa; we are currently looking for an Events and Media Relations Manager for our client who is a multinational FMCG.

 

Responsibilities:

 Reports to General Manager

 

Job Purpose

To lead the execution of corporate, consumer and trade events for The Company which contributes to the delivery of annual category and brand strategies and plans; and to manage media relations on behalf of the Company to support the delivery of corporate and brands’ communications strategies.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

―  Lead the conception, planning and execution of all corporate, consumer and trade events, including brand launches, exhibitions, trade fairs, conferences and workshops.  Ensure that clear briefs are prepared and work with internal stakeholders to determine whether proposed activities are in line with corporate and brand strategies and objectives. Source quotations, detailed proposals and cost summaries in line with Company policies and processes.  Produce detailed planning schedules and supervise and co-ordinate all internal teams and third-party agencies, suppliers and contractors, including:

―  Supervise POS Store & Equipment to ensure that any signage materials, branded equipment and product required are in place on time.

―   Marketing Execution Manager for the deployment of Company merchandisers if needed.

―     Marketing Execution team to create gift packs as required.

―     Statutory bodies as necessary to ensure that all venue and legal requirements are met (such as insurance, health and safety and security).

―     Monitor planning and implementation to take corrective action where necessary.  Produce post-event evaluations to ensure that learnings are captured for future activity planning.

 

―  Manage all media relations on behalf of The Company with appointed agencies where applicable.  Create and maintain a network of, and good working relationships with, media houses and owners to contribute to building a positive image of the Company and its brands. 

―  Assist the Marketing Execution Manager and PR agencies as required to execute corporate and brand PR campaigns.

―  Work with the GM and Legal department to ensure that an effective crisis management policy and procedure is in place and act as the media’s point of contact for such issues should they arise.

―  Assist the Brand team with tracking of marketing expenditure against agreed activities by tracking and reporting on all expenditure for consumer and trade events.

―  Maintain an annual calendar of events to ensure proper advance planning.

―  Develop and keep up to date, a database of event planning agencies and venues, to ensure full knowledge of suitable agencies and venues, creating a reliable network from which the event team can be put together and so that selection decisions can be made quickly during event planning.

―  Develop, and keep up to date, a network of entertainers (MC’s, comedians, celebrities, etc.) to ensure full knowledge of their abilities and so that selection decisions and guest list invitations can be made quickly during event planning.  Build and maintain good working relations with key artistes and their agents, so that they have a positive image of, and desire to work with the Company and its brands.

―  Develop highly valuable working relations with third-party event planning agencies and suppliers in order to ensure premium service-level from them and build their respect as a strong and experienced team leader. Assist the Brand team in the performance management of third-party agencies and suppliers by contributing to regular performance reviews and highlighting issues to be addressed as these arise.

―  Assist the Marketing Execution team with the execution of events related to brand sponsorships, such as prize-giving ceremonies.

―  Assist the Brand team in the production of regular competitor activity reports by monitoring and reporting on events held by key competitor brands.

―  Build strong working relationships with the Brand and Marketing Execution teams to ensure excellent communication and co-operation.

 

 

Qualification and Experience:

5-7 years’ work experience at a reputable company, preferably FMC

 Upper second class Bachelor’s degree from a reputable institution, either local or foreign.

 Able to incorporate information from different sources in planning and decision-making; Articulate – both verbal and written, with a sound command of spoken and written English.

Able to manage workload and a number of different projects/activities simultaneously, to meet deadlines.

 Interpersonal Skills- Able to interact with a range of business functions and with a variety of people across different management levels.
