SuNMaP is DFID-funded seven year programme (2008-2015) to support the National Malaria Control Programme. It currently operates in ten states, namely; Awka, Enugu, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Lagos, Niger, Ogun and Yobe with headquarters In Abuja. The project is managed by a consortium of three international organizations, namely: Malaria Consortium UK, Health Partners International and GRID Consulting Nigeria.
The objective of SuNMaP is to strengthen the delivery of the Nigeria's National Malaria control effort by providing technical support to improve the capacity of the National Malaria Control programme (NMCP) at all levels, In doing this, the programme is working with stakeholders in the health sector public and private; as well as civil societies and partners from the commercial sector.
The programme has been in operation for over five years and now seeks to employ additional professionals to fill these positions:

Northern/Southern Regional Manager
Kano/Lagos Office

The Regional Managers in each region will assist the Programme Director to coordinate all programme activities in the supported States as well as manage the state teams, establish and maintain effective relationships toward ensuring an efficient programme management within the region. The Northern Regional Manager will be based in the Kano office and will oversee all activities of the Technical Malaria Manager, Operational and Financial support Staff in Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, Jigawa and Yobe States. The Southern Regional Manager on the other-hand, will be based in Lagos office and will oversee all activities of officers in; Lagos, Ogun, Enugu, Anambra and Niger States.

Other key responsibilities will include;

  • Ensuring the achievement of key programme outputs by managing and mentoring the state teams to deliver their state based work-plans;
  • Liaise closely and create synergies with key Government stakeholders; RBM Partners and other DFID health programmes within the region;
  • Ensuring all local procurements and arrangements are in line with the Programme accounting and operational requirements;
  • Oversee the regional review and submission of quarterly programme progress and performance reports in line Donor/Government schedules;
  • Managing the synchronization of Malaria plans to ensure effective communication with stakeholders at all levels;

Qualifications

  • An experienced Health professional with a Master's degree in international or public health, with at least 10-years post-qualification experience in the public health sector and in an African country.
  • Proven technical skills in malaria and malaria case management.
  • A minimum of 5years' experience in Health service particularly Primary health care in Nigeria.
  • S/he must have excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Prior experience in the knowledge of Public health, policy development and health systems reforms are essential for this position.

Monitoring and Evaluation Analyst

Abuja

This position is based in Abuja and will report to the Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist. This position will provide support for the elaboration and the implementation of analysis, annual evaluation and periodic monitoring of progress of programme activities.

Other key responsibilities include;

  • Assist in the training programme for staff counterparts on the use of recommended reporting and monitoring formats and guidelines;
  • Develop a field monitoring plan and undertake regular field visits to ensure compliance and timely execution of planned performance monitoring and evaluation in the programme implementing states;
  • Provide support for the development of lesson learnt for performance improvement, effectiveness and impact of interventions;
  • Analyse results of lessons learnt and provide strategies for the development of information via reports and brief dissemination to stakeholders;
  • Provide support for data quality strengthening;

Qualification

  • A health professional with a minimum of three years' experience in design, monitoring and evaluation of the development of programmes.
  • S/he must be familiar with various data software packages as well as developments in the evaluation discipline.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical and drafting skills with the ability to translate data into practical and feasible operational programme format; is required for this position.
  • A Master's degree in International or Public Health will be an added advantage.

Technical Malaria Manager
Jigawa, Yobe

This position is based in the Jigawa and Yobe offices respectively. S/he will be responsible for providing technical support to the State Ministry of Health and other partners engaged in malaria control effort. The Malaria Manager will be involved in direct implementation of projects for the control of malaria at the State and LGA levels. S/he will coordinate and maintain an oversight of programme activities in the State. The incumbent will also provide technical support to the state-level malaria control efforts including harmonization of malaria control efforts at the state levels.

Other key responsibilities include;

  • Coordinating public sector, private sector and civil society on-site training of health workers and PMVs on malaria diagnosis and case management;
  • Coordinating the implementation of state based activities including malaria commodity distribution;
  • Ensuring programme monitoring data are regularly collected, collated and fed-back to the Central programme team;
  • Monitoring access to LUNs and ACTs through the commercial sector and civil society;

Qualifications

  • A Health professional with a Master's degree in International or Public Health with a minimum of 8-years post-qualification experience in the public health sector in Nigeria/Africa.
  • S/he must have experience in malaria, general management and disease control
  • Excellent planning, budgeting and communicating skills are required for this position.
  • Previous experience in project management and a strong understanding of health policy formulation and strategy within a donor funding environment will be an added advantage.

Operations Officer in SuNMaP
Kaduna, Yobe

This position will be based in the Kaduna and Yobe offices respectively and will be responsible for providing support to programme operations. S /he develop a security plan for the programme in compliance with SuNMaP standard operational procedures. Whilst reporting to the Operations Director, the job holder will provide support in the management of commodities and security to ensure value for money at all levels. The Operation officers will manage commodity quantification, procurement and logistics of all supplies; as well as liaison with Crown Agents, Nigeria.

Qualifications

  • A University degree in Pharmacy, Supply chain management Public health, health logistics or other related fields is required for this position.
  • A minimum of 3-years' experience in health related logistics, supply chain management or security management is essential.
  • A good understanding of the health systems structure within the Nigerian context will be an added advantage.
  • Demonstrable hands-on knowledge of Microsoft office tools is essential for the position.
