KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Demonstrate a comprehensive operational and practical knowledge of all Company equipment on location.
  • Mentor all Junior (trainee) Fluids Engineers on location.
  • Ensure full compliance of company’s expectations on HSE&S is adhered to at all times by yourself and all members of your team.
  • Provide clear and concise daily mud reports.
  • Carry out all field related Lab test work as per clients’ requirements prior to processing implementation.
  • Report on all chemical, consumables and spare part usage, inventory control on location.
  • Request for replenishment of all stocks to the onsite Supervisor. Track all equipment inspection certificates and arrange recertification as required.



ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Candidate must possess a minimum of 6 years’ experience on a drilling rig both onshore and offshore,specifically performing Fluids Engineering operations. Deepwater experience will be an added advantage.
  • Have a proven track record of working safely and effectively using Water base mud and Synthetic/Oil base muds
  • Have a record of Industry Training from a recognised Oilfield Industry establishment. Strong on-site operational knowledge of drilling practices and procedures.
  • Be computer literate with a proficient knowledge of mainstream (universal) software packages.
  • Fluent and professional communication in English language, both spoken and written.



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Proficient computer navigation skills. Comprehensive knowledge of the oil and gas industry and product line, expert mechanical aptitude. Demonstrated ability to work well and communicate well with others
  • Two year Technical Degree.

ABOUT THIS JOB
The Region Technical Manager is the technical leader for the Coiled Tubing product line in Africa and is responsible for ensuring delivery of industry leading technical solutions to our customers while mentoring and developing our regional technical team. This is a prestigious senior position which offers significant potential opportunity to progress to a senior operational or product line leader role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Actively promote safe working conditions and practices and ensure that Baker Hughes’ Safety Management System is followed.
  • Ensure the engineering and technical aspects of the business are performed professionally and meet Baker Hughes' international standards and Customer’s SOP&Ps.
  • Ensure efficient delivery of services by monitoring job quality, job safety, Standard Practices and QA/QC system to cover the process from chemical ordering to post job controls when required.
  • Champion introduction of new technology to meet Region Product Line target on New Product Revenue and New Technology Introduction
  • Generate in coordination with piers and Geomarket Operations Managers and Region FP&A Manager a Monthly Manager Report on region activity

  • Work on Engineering and Technical Projects finding solutions that will give Baker Hughes a competitive advantage.

  • Monitor the career plan for engineering and technical personnel and provide quarterly recommended training to the Geos.
  • Develop and maintain contact with customers on an as required basis to deal with technical issues.
  • Manage the day to day engineering and technical activities of the region.
  • In charge of the preparation of competitive tenders for frontier areas.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and quarterly plans from the engineering and technical perspective and by interacting with the Geo operations manager to define technical equipment, personnel and facilities required.
  • Carry out internal and customer technical seminars on regular basis.
  • Maintain close liaison with field service personnel and BHI product line organization.
  • Perform periodic visits to job sites to assess technical personnel and effectiveness of technical recommendations.
  • Frequent contributor to internal and external technical publications directly and through the Region Technical team.
  • Participate in technical society (e.g., SPE) functions, study groups, etc.



ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Engineering Degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience in Deep Water cementing including lab, field and design, in-house customer experience is a plus.
  • Significant overall Coiled Tubing experience



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in Stimulation, Coiled Tubing or Service Tools is a plus.
  • Active participant in industry and technical societies
  • Sales and Business Development experience
  • This role will involve some travel to Africa (roughly 1 week per month to Africa).

  • Experience with and knowledge of Directional and/or other wellbore positioning software
  • Experience with and knowledge of Advantage Engineering and/or other Directional Drilling software
  • Deep water directional drilling experience would be beneficial
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience of AutoTrak or other Rotary Steerable Systems

  • Assist with the development and implementation of sales strategies in the Nigeria Geo-market for Pressure Pumping product line.
  • Assist Product Line Business Development Manager to develop and achieve short and long range sales goals.
  • Prepare Coiled Tubing, Acidizing and Sand Control presentations and tenders to clients.
  • Maintain and service an account.
  • Mentor younger Field Engineers


ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 5 years of Coiled Tubing and Stimulation job design, planning and execution experience (Cementing and Sand Control Pumping experience will be an advantage)
  • Degree in Engineering, Petroleum Engineering is preferred
  • Able to present professionally in front of clients and management
  • Excellent communication skills


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Need to have at least one year sales experience in one of the services such as Fracturing, Acidizing, Cementing, Sand Control or Coiled Tubing.
