Marine Fleet Superintendent

Lagos, Nigeria

Reporting Relationship:

• The Fleet Superintendent reports to the Operations Manager, West African Ventures Marine Ops department.

 

Liases with:

• The Fleet Superintendent has a cooperative relationship with the HSE Manager, HR/Crewing Manager, Technical 
   Manager, Procurement department and Project Client.

 

Directs:

• Redundancy for Operations Manager 
• Shore Material Logistics Coordinator 
• Personnel Logistics Coordinator

 

Responsibilities:

• Act as interface on all contractual, marine and nautical matters, and pro-actively developing of the Client relation. 
• Ensure all vessels/barges assigned are operated to the Company’s and client Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality 
   Policies and Procedures. 
• Through close cooperation with the Operations Manager ensure that all reported deficiencies, non-conformities are cleared 
   in a minimum of delay. 
• Controls and monitors the progress for assigned vessels / barges under charter. 
• Controls and monitors that assigned vessels / barges are ready for use and certified. 
• Arrange for surveyors for OVID, appoints, arrange follow up at base and vessels / barges on surveyors arrival. 
• Arrange for auditors intern/extern/client audits plans, follow up at base and vessels/barges are arranged on auditors arrival. 
• Provide assistance as requested by other departments HR, HSE, TD, FIN, COM. 
• Assist on Tenders/Projects, stability calculations for fleet/projects, conversions units fleet, repairs. 
• Prepares and handles claims if applicable. 
• Instruct and directs Marine Coordinator(s) office.
• Instruct and directs Port Captains at bases. 
• Instructs and directs administrators .
• Instructs and directs Agents. Suppliers, subcontractors. 
• Instructs and directs Masters of assigned vessels/barges and chartered tonnage. 
• Follows up on requests of Masters, Port Captains. 
• Assists in maintaining, the OPS hard and soft filling system. 
• Attends meetings with HR, ISM, TD, and COM. 
• Monitors HSE and ISM/ISPS of vessels/barges, charter tonnage. 
• Executes Operational visits to the vessels/barges, chartered tonnage. 
• Executes OPS audits for charter tonnage. 
• Attend OPS meetings.

 

Authorized to:

• Initiate analyses, assessments and studies of critical Marine Operation.

 

 

Requirements:

Education and Training

• Higher education with Bachelor or Master’s degree in Nautical or Naval Science.

 

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years experience as a Master/Chief Officer in Maritime Offshore industry.

 

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of IMS systems with related documents and procedures. 
• HSEQ 
• OVID -   Inspections. 
• SOLAS – IMO. 
• Client related inspections. 
• Operational Intern audits of Vessel and Barges. 
• Good knowledge of Navigation. 
• Seamanship – Anchor Handling – Towing – stability/lashing securing/load discharge.

Engineering Manager

SeaTrucks Group is looking for an experienced Engineering Manager for its West African Ventures operation in Lagos, Nigeria. This concerns a fulltime position. The suitable candidate has a thorough background in offshore construction (in particular experience working in any of: flexible/umbilical’s, structures, rigid pipelay, mooring installation works) and in deep water projects.

Main responsibilities:

  • Providing supervision to a team of engineers and draftsmen;
  • Ensuring quality of engineering deliverables, including issues related to fit for purpose, safety, health, environment, security and cost;
  • Developing and preparing new equipment and vessels that suit the Company’s aspirations and objectives;
  • Reviewing workload and adjusting human resource capacity accordingly;
  • Management of engineering knowledge;
  • Ensuring that engineering staff is adequately skilled, experienced, trained and educated;

Requirements for this position:

  • MSc degree in engineering or alternatively BSc degree with extensive experience in design and engineering;
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in design & engineering, of which a minimum of 5 years in the offshore industry;

  • Good practical and theoretical knowledge of offshore transportation, installation and pipelay techniques;

Lead CAD Engineer

Purpose of Role:

  • The Lead CAD Engineer directs all CAD Engineers.
     

Responsible for:

  • Implementation of company standard for drawings
  • Ensure quality of all drawings made at company engineering office
  • Ensuring all vessel and equipment drawings are up to date
  • Maintain and increase competence level of CAD engineers
  • Timely coordinate provision of drawings to projects
  • Allocation of CAD engineers to tasks
  • Communication and co-ordination of CAD engineers with other disciplines
  • Identification and reporting of technical areas of concern to Engineering manager
  • Adherence to Company Management System (CMS) as applicable
     

Authorised to:

  • Take decision to ensure that quality of all drawings is safeguarded
  • Check all drawings for accuracy and completeness
  • Sign all drawings for CAD engineering approval
     

Education and Training:

  • Vocational Education Degree in Civil, Mechanical or an equivalent engineering discipline. Bachelor’s degree is advantageous
  • Strong drafting and offshore construction/installation experience

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D/3D
     

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years relevant experience in CAD engineering, of which 5 years in offshore transportation and installation engineering

Deputy Contracts Manager

The Deputy Contracts Manager reports to the Contract Manager.


Directs:

Key Interfaces:

  • Project Teams (Director   /Managers / others);
  • Project Services / Control;
  • Finance Department.


Responsibilities:

  • Draft Letters for contractual issues for Project Director / Manager;
  • Ensures that all the documents forming the Contract are made available and handed over to the proper function(s)in accordance with the applicable procedures;
  • Ensures that contractual information used by the Project Team is accurate and up-to-date;
  • Ensures proper filing of contractual information and documents;
  • Ensures the above activities also in respect of documents and information regarding ancillary contractual documents, such as agreements with partners, confidentiality agreements, licence agreements, affidavits, power of attorneys;
  • Advises the Project Director / Manager on aspects of the Project execution which deviate from the requirements of the Contract;
  • Manages change orders process from identification to resolution of change: prepares and coordinates any claims against or from the Client, Consortium partners and subcontractors; obtains technical, scheduling and pricing elements from relevant disciplines of the Project; under the direction of the Project Manager, submits, answers and negotiates change order requests and claims / counterclaims; keeps updated records and files of all change orders and claims;
  • As a support to Finance function checks that the milestones completion notices and other documents required for payment meet the contractual requirements;
  • Ensures in liaison with competent corporate functions that required insurance coverage is timely put in place and that required insurance certificates are provided / obtained from vendors, subcontractors and JV partners;
  • Assists the Project Director / Manager whenever a loss and/or damage falling under an insurance programme occurs. Subsequently follows up the evolution of the loss, providing support for the orderly build-up of the documentary evidence to be used to substantiate the Insurance Claim and attending the negotiations with the loss adjust in conjunction with the relevant Insurance Function;
  • Ensures that contractual and legal matters affecting Project execution are properly addressed, with the support of the relevant disciplines of the Project, and requires mobilisation of other supporting functions;
  • In co-ordination with the Project Director / Manager, attempts amicable resolution of disputes with client, partners and subcontractors. Provides support to the Litigation Department in case of Legal Proceedings or Arbitration;
  • Ensures regular reporting, in accordance with applicable procedures and internal instructions, on major aspects of the Project, in particular on the status of progress, payments, change orders, claims, bank guarantees, bonds and retentions, parent company guarantees.


Qualifications / Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying/Engineering/Law;
  • MRICS or equivalent;
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience, at least 5 of which must have been at management level, and a minimum of 10 years’ experience in the Oil and Gas Industry, with at least 7 of those years being with a Contracting organisation;
  • Preference for experience in Nigerian oil and gas project environment both offshore and onshore environment;
  • Excellent English language both written and spoken with strong presentation, communication and negotiation skills.

 

 

Technical Superintendent

The Technical Superintendent may direct any member in his division.


Reporting Relationships:

The Technical Superintendent reports to the Technical Teamleader Onne and/or Manager Marine Assets, WAVentures. The Technical Superintendent has a cooperative relationship with the HSE Manager, , Operations Manager ,Star/IPS Officer and all technical crew on board of the vessels and a supportive action towards the New Build Team.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide an on time, safe, reliable, and cost effective technical service operation for the Lagos operated vessels and barges;
  • Create an environment of continuous improvement;
  • Identify, manage and monitor risks;
  • Advise on the technical operations of all vessels owned or operated by WAVentures;
  • Liaise closely with the vessels’ masters and chief engineers to ensure the vessels hulls, machinery and equipment are operated efficiently and maintained in good condition;
  • Ensure that all personnel under the control his are suitably qualified;
  • Assist in planning dry-docking and other significant material or services contracts
  • Ensure the compliance of the vessels to the ISM Code within his area of responsibility and planned maintenance of the vessels is correctly applied;
  • To provide specialist advice and recommendations on all important technical issues affecting the vessels;
  • To identify opportunities to improve technical issues to increase customer service and company value;
  • To supervise and manage the mechanical division within the STAR IPS system on all vessels and in the office and work in close relation with the Star/IPS officer;
  • To work in close relation with the procurement department and approve purchase orders and advise on spare parts,consumbles and equipmnent for the WAVentures vessels.


Key Performance Indicators:

  • The ability to effectively manage the Mechanical Division and maintain high staff retention;

  • Demonstrate excellent management of technical issues especially vessel availability for all operations;

  • Ensure that the relevant risk assessments are undertaken and reviewed. Ensure and maintain all safeguards and controls as required by the Safe System of Work / Risk Assessment;
  • Ensure that there is adequate provision and necessary allocation of time for Health, Safety and Environmental management;
  • Communicate HSE Policy and Processes to supervisors and staff. Maintain effective consultation in respect of Health, Safety and Environmental management. Include Health, Safety and Environment as an agenda item in all meetings. Attend HSE meetings;
  • Take action in accordance with the Company disciplinary procedures for those who are negligent in failing to follow established safety and environmental procedures or misuse equipment provided for their health and safety.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Ability Required:

  • Knowledge of the technical lay out of the WAVentures fleet;
  • Pleasant disposition with the capability to be authoritative when necessary;
  • Clear and effective oral and written communication skills in English language;
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of principle discipline and peripheral subjects;

Experience and Education:

  • Qualified Chief Engineer or dua: l licenced Officer with reasonable experience;
  • Experience in similar position;
  • Experience on AHTS vessels, perferrably with DP systems.
