ACTIVITIES
The Welding Qualification Engineer will be part of QC inspection team and, together with the Material and Welding Specialist, supervise the welding qualification related to pipeline and piping materials welding and NDE (including line pipe, forgings, bends) performed by Contractor. The Welding Qualification engineer may also assist the Welding and Materials specialist or the Welding Engineer regarding technical queries, derogations and general tasks related to welding and materials.

The Service holder will be expected to:
•   Attend Kick-off meeting, pre-inspection meeting and/or pre-production meeting as required
•   Review relevant welding qualification / material documents during the welding qualification phase. This includes typically welding procedures, welding and welder qualifications, testing procedures, ITP, technical reports, etc ...
•   Ensure day-to-day follow up of the welding qualifications on site and liaising with the QC Vendors Coordinator, Welding and Material specialist and Technical Manager.
•   Liaise with COMPANY inspectors and assist the QC Vendors Coordinator with respect to inspection for Welding Qualification.
•   Ensure that the quality assurance record books are properly documented and maintained by the contractor.
•   Ensure that CONTRACTOR and SUB-CONTRACTOR staff complies fully with the welding procedures and approved qualification documentation.
•   The preparation of non-conformance reports if and when required.
•   Assist in analysis of Contractor technical queries and preparation of comments and proposed answers to these queries
•   Ensure that Welding/ Qualification Testing activities are performed in line with Contract requirement and Project Specifications
•   Ensure that Welding/ Qualification Testing activities are performed in line with Client’s general specifications and issue proper derogations, if required
•   Conduct inspection of VENDOR’s facilities as necessary in particular at qualification stage to ensure adherence to qualified process and prevent deviations
•   Report to the Vendors QC coordinator Material & Welding Specialist / Construction Manager on a regular basis, and to Project’s Management upon request
•   Propose technical solutions / way forward in case of unexpected difficulties during the project development.
•   Develop and preparing as need be technical reports
•   Get assistance from Client’s Specialists, or third parties, if required, for specific topics
•   Get feedback from other deepwater projects on pipelines and risers
HSE
•   Ensure that contractor QHSE practices are acceptable and that proper measures and procedures are being implemented by everyone concerned.
•   To demonstrate leadership for implementation of Company requirements on technological risks management.
•   To ensure that all recommendations from safety studies and technical reviews are fully addressed in design phase.
•   Participating in various technical reviews (Hazids, Hazops, Project Technical Reviews, Risk Assessments …)
•   To attend contractor office safety induction and adapt behavior to fully comply with office security, health and safety instructions.
•   To stay vigilant and maintain continuous awareness of hazards and surroundings.
•   To participate to local programmes or initiatives to improve HSSE performances.
•   To report to Management on any issue they may face or observe and propose way of improvement.
•   To also take care of colleagues safety and behavior without hesitating to intervene as much as necessary.
•   To carefully assess hazards and risks when changes occur.
•   To give his own input and making sure the workplace is safe (obviously clean and tidy).
•   When in doubt, ask questions to gain clarification

ACCOUNTABILITIES
•   Reports directly to the Client’s Vendors QC Coordinator
•   Accountable for ensuring welding qualification in accordance with COMPANY General and Project Particular Specifications and good industry practices regarding material and welding aspects.

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
•   Material, Welding & NDE Engineer with six years experience in the Oil and Gas or Petrochemical Industries
•   Graduated Welding Engineer (or equivalent)
•   Experience in welding qualifications and working on site
•   Good knowledge of international design codes / standards and COMPANY general specifications
•   Fluent in English both verbal and written
