Credit Analyst- Mid Corporate At RS Hunter

The analyst will be responsible for a portfolio of Mid Corporate Clients, Financial Institutions and Structured Trade and Commodity Finance exposures typically across all major industries but with the majority based in West Africa.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Identifying transaction specific risks including structure, credit, taxation, accounting, currency and legal.
  • Introducing risk mitigating measures as input to structure transactions in line with the risk philosophy of the Organization.
  • General understanding of Company Law, Tax, Commercial Law and legal issues relating to Security in West African Countries.
  • Excellent report writing skills (reports are presented to the Credit Committee and to the Board of Directors).
  • Keeping up to date with news and events that might affect the various countries in West Africa, individual counterparties and portfolios.
  • A good understanding of the Bank’s credit grading, LGD and credit pricing models.
  • Comprehensive understanding of business risks and the economic environment with the ability to relate such issues to the risk profile of individual credits.


Qualifications and Experience:

 The successful candidate should be a Chartered Accountant (or equivalent) &/or MBA or CFA with at least two year’s post internship experience or 3 years relevant credit experience within a banking environment. Modeling, assessing and advising on industry and company specific risks should ideally form part of this experience.


Key Competences:

  • Ability to analyze company financial statements and to identify and quantify financial, country, structuring, currency and business risks.
  • An interest in and understanding of financial instruments and markets.
  • General knowledge of practical economics (including macroeconomics) relating to the region, country, business and industry.
  • General understanding of trends in the global lending market with a view to providing input into the bank wide lending policy development process.
  • Computer literacy: proficiency in spreadsheet, database and word processing software.
  • General understanding of a variety of financial derivative products.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a pro-active attitude.
  • A good understanding of credit ratings, LGD, portfolio theory and credit pricing.



  • The successful candidate must have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to debate complex issues.
  • S/he must be able to work as part of a highly innovative and competitive team, meeting demanding deadlines.
  • S/he must have the ability to apply knowledge and experience in such a manner that they add sustainable value to the Credit and Business team
