The American University of Nigeria, Yola, is seeking a Permanent Human Resources Officer (Records). This position is a local one open to indigenous and/or legal residents of Nigeria.

The position is responsible for updating and maintaining the integrity of employee records in the Human Resources Database. The position shall ensure that accurate employee records detailing any notices of commendation, warning or discipline; performance evaluations and reviews; changes in employee qualifications and trends in employee trainings; and changes in job title, job description, job classification or supervisor.

Position Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent from a recognized tertiary institution required. Degrees in Human Resources, Public Administration, Business Administration, or Information Systems preferred.
  • At least one year of human resource and/or experience working in a University setting a plus. Knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills,  as well as a good sense of customer service required
  • Ability to record, collect, enter and analyze data; experience using databases and Microsoft Office tools (Excel) required
  • Experience using MS Office software and ability to type and write effectively required. Good communication, organizational and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Good command of the English language required; proficiency in a second language a plus
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality concerning personal files and records required

  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering information.
  • Confidentiality concerning personal files and records.
