Systems Engineer

Job Summary: 
As a Systems Engineer in NetApp's Sales function, you are responsible for providing pre-sales and post-sales support for selling NetApp's Products or Services to existing and potential customers. You will utilize your excellent technical and relationship building skills in working with vendors, partners and sales to ensure that optimum systems solutions are provided to customers. 

In this position your overall focus areas will be in supporting and developing processes and systems for quick and thorough responses to customer RFP's, provide systems configuration recommendations, and apply your background and experience to deliver solutions to technical problems. 

Essential Functions: 
The essential responsibilities of the Systems Engineers are to work directly with customers in pre-sales and post sales situations, and to work effectively across functions with other NetApp employees in Sales, Marketing, Customer Service and Development areas. Specific responsibilities include: 
- Identify customer needs and requirements. 

- Define all of the elements of a customer's technical computing environment. 

- Answer customer questions. 

- Provide technical support to current customer and 'try-and-buy' test projects. 

- Defining customer acceptance criteria for 'try-and-buy' evaluation projects. 

- Pickup and deliver NetApp evaluation test system to customer site. 

- Work with Sales to respond to RFP's. 

- Attending customer calls with the Sales Representative. 

- Provide technical consultation and disseminate product information to the sales team. 

- Provide direction and mentorship to more junior Systems Engineers in the department.

 

Job Requirements

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
- Good interpersonal communication and customer service skills are needed in order work successfully with prospects, customers, and cross functional teams to meet performance goals. 
- Account management and project management experience. 
- Strong aptitude for learning new technologies and understanding how to utilize them in a customer facing environment. 
- Ability to follow standard engineering principles and practices. 
- Creative approach to problem solving. 
- Travel to the prospective customer's sites as necessary 

Responsibility and Interaction: 
Responsibility: 
- As a seasoned professional with a wide range of experiences, this individual uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. 
- Is responsible for a specific geographical install base and large, complex, high visibility, strategic, or tactically important accounts. 

Interaction: 
- This individual effectively works with, and influences senior internal personnel within the function, employees in other functions that support the sales effort, and has direct customer contact. 
- Limited management supervision and direction is provided since this individual operates and drives results independently. 
- The ideal candidate is a subject matter expert and strongly influences sales team decisions and initiatives. May also act as a team leader and major decision maker for team projects.

 

Education and Experience

Education & Experience: 
- 8 to 12 years of experience is preferred. 
- A Bachelor of Arts or Sciences Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent is required. A Graduate Degree is desired. 
- Experience which demonstrates a significant level of expertise in technical specifications required to sell NetApp products and services is required. 
- Specialized knowledge in breadth and/or depth.

 

 

 

SE-Technical Partner Manager

Job Summary

The business 
The Technical Partner Manager is responsible for co-ordinating the development of the technical relationship between NetApp and a number of nominated channel partners. This is a highly influential role, working closely channel development and sales counterparts to nurture and exploit the capabilities of the technical resources within the nominated channel partners. The role holder must be results driven, customer focused, technically knowledgeable, and skilled at building internal relationships and external partnerships.

 

Job Requirements

Your role 
The overall responsibilities of the Technical Partner Manager are to provide enablement and development of the pre- and post-sale technical individuals within our key channel partners. The TPM is also responsible for working closely with all other sales, SE and PS organisations to ensure we achieve a co-ordinated approach to channel development. 
Specific areas of responsibility include: 
Enablement of pre- and, where appropriate, post-sales technical individuals in line with both our global and local partner strategies 
• Work with channel development, channel marketing and sales functions to develop and execute a co-ordinated approach to partner development 
• Be actively involved in guiding Partners to shape, create and deliver compelling Customer Demand generation activities, leveraging channel sales and marketing when appropriate 
• Work with the channel partner training team to ensure alignment of enablement activity with the corporate training and certification curriculum 
• Collaborate with other TPMs at the Area and Geo levels to ensure comprehensive and consistent delivery of enablement activity 
• Ensure the enablement and development activities across nominated channel partners align with our strategy and vision 
• Provide appropriate and timely reporting of activity and achievements to next level of management and above, as required 
• Actively engage our SE and PS teams in enablement and development activities to foster a sense of community and team spirit 
• Create and execute a comprehensive set of workshops that meet the needs of local channel partners 
• Share workshop content with peers across ANZ to ensure efficient re-use and enable the co-operative development of material 
• Engage subject matter experts from the wider SE and PS teams to support the delivery of enablement activity 
• Attend Quarterly Business Reviews and lead the discussion around technical status (education, gap with NetApp Partner Program and actions plan) 
• Innovate, create and execute events and activities that supplement the core enablement activity when the need for such is identified 
• Presenting and explaining our value proposition at both a technical and a management level within nominated channel partners 
• Measure the skill level and the self sufficiency of the nominated channel partners on a regular basis via a scorecard and in conjunction with sales and PS functions and take actions based on this assessment to improve it if necessary 
• Articulate our value proposition across a wide range of individuals and job functions within nominated channel partner staff including pre- and post-sales, sales and technical and business leadership. 
• Be an advocate of NetApp to channel partners and vice-versa

 

Education and Experience

Your profile: 
• Strong verbal and written communications skills, including presentation skills. 
• Strong organisational skills 
• Ability to work collaboratively with employees within department and across functions. 
• Must have an aptitude for understanding how technology products and solutions solve business problems.
• Must have a good understanding of all aspects of storage and data management market 
• Ability to build relationships and exercise influence with individuals in external organisations. 
• A minimum of 8 years of experience as an individual contributor 
• A Bachelor of Arts of Sciences Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science; or related field is desirable 
• Experience which demonstrates a significant level of expertise in technical specifications required to articulate the value of NetApp products and services is required.
